You know that your marriage is real. It’s not just a tactic to get a green card. You immigrated to the United States, fell in love with a native citizen, and decided to tie the knot. The green card is a nice bonus to keep you together, but that’s it.
Still, the authorities may not be so sure. They could decide to do an interrogation to learn more about your relationship. They’re going to ask you questions in an effort to determine just how real that marriage is — or if you’re not really a couple, but just two people abusing the immigration system. This is a serious situation, and you need to be ready.
The questions are often simple
Generally, the questions are simple and are just aimed at asking you things that any normal couple would know. Examples include:- When and where did you meet for the first time?
- What do the two of you like to do on the weekends?
- Do you each have tattoos or other identifying marks?
- Where do you both work?
- When do you like to get up in the morning?
- When is your anniversary?
- Who tends to do most of the cooking?
- Do you share any favorite movies or TV shows?
- Are you both part of the same religion?
- What types of clothes do you like the most?
- What is your favorite present that your spouse has bought you?
